Storm Austen Brings Amber Wind Warnings to UK Southwest, Orange Alerts to Northern France

Storm Austen is impacting Western Europe, with the UK Met Office issuing an Amber severe weather warning for wind in southwest England (Cornwall, Devon, Isles of Scilly, Plymouth) for Friday morning, October 23rd, where gusts could reach up to 80 mph (129 km/h). A wider Yellow warning is in effect for western Wales and other parts of England. Across the English Channel, Météo-France has placed 15 departments in western and northern France under an orange alert for high winds, with gusts up to 140 km/h (87 mph) expected.
