UN Report Details Significant Rise in Global Food Insecurity

A recent United Nations report, the 2026 Global Report on Food Crises, highlights a substantial increase in acute food insecurity and malnutrition worldwide. The report indicates that 266 million people across 47 countries were affected in 2025, with conflict identified as the primary driver. Notably, two famines were declared in a single year for the first time, in the Gaza Strip and parts of Sudan, underscoring the severe impact on vulnerable populations, particularly children.
