Cambodia Requests UN Conciliation for Maritime Boundary Dispute with Thailand

Cambodia has formally requested United Nations mediation to resolve a long-standing maritime boundary dispute with Thailand in the Gulf of Thailand. The contested region is believed to hold substantial natural gas deposits. This action comes after Thailand's recent withdrawal from a 2001 agreement designed to address their overlapping claims.
