International Labour Organization Establishes New Protections for Platform Workers

The International Labour Organization (ILO) has adopted a landmark global convention aimed at safeguarding workers within the growing platform economy. This new international labor standard, the first of its kind for digital labor platforms, was approved during the 114th Session in Geneva. It mandates governments to properly classify platform workers based on their work's nature, ensuring they receive fair and timely payment and are covered by minimum wage laws.
