British armed forces have detained the oil tanker Smyrtos in the English Channel, suspecting it of involvement with Russia's 'shadow fleet' and violating international sanctions. This operation, described by the British Prime Minister as the first of its kind led by the UK, was conducted in collaboration with French authorities.
