UN Security Council Briefed on Worsening Humanitarian Crisis in Yemen

The UN Security Council received an update on the escalating humanitarian crisis in Yemen, where over half the population, more than 18 million people, face acute hunger. Under-Secretary-General Tom Fletcher warned that the situation would deteriorate without immediate intervention. Concerns were also raised regarding limited humanitarian access and the detention of aid personnel in Houthi-controlled areas.
