Global Gas Flaring Increases for Third Consecutive Year

Global gas flaring reached 167 billion cubic meters in 2025, marking a third consecutive annual increase and representing an estimated $54 billion in wasted gas. This persistent practice not only undermines energy security for many nations but also significantly contributes to global emissions. Nine countries are responsible for over 80% of this worldwide flaring.
