International Monetary Fund Names New Chief Economist and Research Director

The International Monetary Fund has announced the appointment of Silvana Tenreyro as its new Economic Counsellor and head of the Research Department. Ms. Tenreyro, a distinguished economist with prior experience on the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee, will assume her new responsibilities in August. She will succeed Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas in this influential role.
