EU Continues Biometric Border Controls Despite Operational Challenges

The European Union has opted to proceed with its new Entry/Exit System, which requires non-EU travelers to submit biometric data, despite calls for its suspension from airports and airlines. Officials acknowledge that the system has created "difficult spots" leading to delays and missed connections, but maintain that a full suspension is neither necessary nor possible. This decision comes amidst reports of delays for the related European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS).
