Independent UN human rights investigators have warned that El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state in Sudan, is at risk of becoming another "crime scene" following atrocities in El Fasher. The mission found "indicators of a genocidal path" in earlier reports and highlighted patterns of encirclement, attacks on civilian infrastructure, and widespread abuses by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, with 33.7 million people requiring humanitarian assistance in Sudan.
