UN Warns Drone Attacks Worsen Humanitarian Crisis and Cholera Outbreak in Sudan's Kordofan Region

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned that persistent drone attacks are severely exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Sudan's Kordofan region. These attacks have caused civilian casualties, disrupted essential water supplies, and are compounding a worsening cholera outbreak. The city of El Obeid, a major displacement hub, has seen its water supply reduced to just 20% of its needs due to continued drone strikes. The UN is working with partners to provide aid, including cholera response supplies and funding for food security, nutrition, and healthcare.
