G7 and EU Call for End to Atrocities in Sudan Civil War; EU Bans Gold Imports to Cut Financing

G7 foreign ministers and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy have urged the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces and allied groups to cease actions that could lead to further atrocities. Separately, the EU has banned the purchase, import, and transfer of gold from Sudan, identifying the trade as a key source of financing for the ongoing civil war.
