European Union Prohibits Destruction of Unsold Apparel by Large Firms

Starting July 19, 2026, major corporations within the European Union will no longer be permitted to destroy unsold clothing and footwear. This new regulation, part of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products framework, seeks to significantly reduce waste. The initiative encourages greater reuse, repair, and more sustainable business practices across the bloc.
