China Establishes New Global AI Cooperation Organization

China has launched the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) in Shanghai, bringing together 29 founding nations including Russia and Indonesia. This new intergovernmental body aims to guide AI development and governance, particularly benefiting the Global South. The initiative signals increased competition with the United States for influence in the global digital economy and AI standards.
