European Commission Updates Corporate Sustainability Reporting Standards

The European Commission has adopted revised European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), making them mandatory for EU companies under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). These updated standards, which will also impact US companies with EU subsidiaries, aim to simplify previous versions by reducing data points and estimated reporting costs. The changes are expected to take effect for fiscal year 2027.
