Spain has threatened Italy with proportional measures if Rome does not lift its one-month suspension of the Schengen free-travel agreement, which was introduced following a mass migrant influx into the Spanish North African territory of Ceuta. Spain described Italy's measure as "unfair, contrary to the EU's interests and discriminatory for the Spanish population".
