NATO Boosts Military Mobility on Southeastern Flank with Infrastructure Upgrades

NATO is enhancing its military mobility on the southeastern flank, with plans to upgrade Pan-European Transport Corridor 8 for military purposes. This includes expanding the NATO air base at Mihail Kogălniceanu in Romania into Europe's largest, capable of accommodating up to 10,000 soldiers. Additionally, NATO approved Turkey's proposal for a military oil pipeline running through Greece and Bulgaria to Romania, intended exclusively for military use. These initiatives aim to strengthen the alliance's collective ability to respond to security challenges in the region.
