WFP warns of severe hunger and malnutrition in Somalia due to aid cuts

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) reports escalating hunger and malnutrition in Somalia, driven by critical funding shortfalls. These shortfalls have forced the WFP to reduce emergency food assistance, now reaching less than one in ten individuals facing acute food insecurity. This reduction impacts over two-thirds of previously supported people, with nearly half of Somalia's youngest children at risk of acute malnutrition by July 2026.
