Massive Oil Spill Reaches Oman's Coastline, Threatening Environmental Catastrophe

A vast oil spill from the tanker Caroline Bezengi, which ran aground off Oman, has now reached the Omani coastline. The spill, which has spread largely unchecked for several weeks and now covers over 2,000 square kilometers, threatens to become one of the worst environmental disasters in years. The tanker was reportedly carrying 800,000 barrels of sanctioned oil and had been leaking since June.
