IOM Appeals for $110 Million to Address Impending El Niño Humanitarian Crisis

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has appealed for USD 110 million to protect 4.9 million people from the potentially severe impacts of the developing 2026–2027 El Niño, which is expected to persist until at least February 2027 with a near 100% probability. The funding aims to strengthen preparedness, early warning systems, and rapid response efforts to mitigate drought, flooding, extreme heat, and heightened displacement risks in vulnerable communities.
