International Aid Rushes to Nepal as Flood Death Toll Rises and Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

International organizations and countries are significantly increasing humanitarian aid to Nepal following devastating flash floods and landslides. The European Union has dispatched an air bridge with 82 tonnes of essential supplies and committed an additional €500,000, building on a previous €2 million allocation. Switzerland is also boosting its support with an additional USD 1 million and deploying specialists for reconstruction and disaster risk management. The World Food Programme is scaling up its response, providing emergency food assistance and deploying logistics teams to reach isolated communities. The death toll from a related mudslide on the China-Nepal border has risen to 31, with hundreds still missing, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
