Five EU Countries Plan External 'Return Hubs' for Rejected Migrants by 2027

Five European Union member states – Denmark, Greece, Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands – are seeking an agreement with an unnamed non-EU country to establish 'return hubs' for migrants whose asylum applications have been rejected. The initiative, discussed at talks in Copenhagen, aims for a targeted start date of January 1, 2027. Danish Migrations Minister Morten Bodskov indicated that a common understanding with a partner country outside the EU is expected around the New Year.
