UN and EU Launch Major Aid Efforts as Nepal Flood Crisis Worsens

The United Nations and its humanitarian partners have launched a $49.6 million flash appeal to provide emergency assistance to over 84,000 people affected by catastrophic floods in Nepal, which have claimed more than 1,250 lives. The European Union has also dispatched an air bridge flight with 82 tonnes of essential supplies and committed an additional €500,000 for the response, as remote communities remain isolated and thousands are missing.
