Houthis seize control of Yemen's Red Sea coast and Bab al-Mandab Strait, threatening global shipping

Ansarullah fighters (Houthis) have taken control of virtually the entire Red Sea coast of Yemen, including the strategic port city of Mokha and Mayyun Island in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. This development gives them control over a critical global shipping chokepoint, through which approximately 12% of global maritime commerce passes daily, raising concerns about potential blockades and disruptions to oil exports. This is part of an escalating conflict with Saudi Arabia, which has seen Houthi attacks on Saudi oil facilities.
