NATO Enhances Air Defense Capabilities Against Diverse Threats

NATO has expanded its Air Policing mission into a comprehensive Air Defence posture in 2026, integrating it with Eastern Sentry and rotational deployments of air defense systems. Agreed upon at the 2026 Ankara Summit, this enhancement aims to provide greater flexibility in responding to a wider range of threats, including drones, missiles, and aircraft.
