Former Ukrainian Military Officer to Stand Trial in Germany Over Nord Stream Pipeline Bombings

A former Ukrainian special forces officer, Sergiy Kuznietsov, is set to become the first person to stand trial in Germany for the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline bombings. He faces charges including carrying out a "war crime" and attacking civilian infrastructure. The trial, beginning Wednesday, follows German investigators identifying a cell of Ukrainians as alleged perpetrators of the blasts that damaged three of the four pipelines designed to carry Russian gas to Europe.
