Canada to Host Canada-European Union Summit to Advance Ambitious New Partnership

Canada will host the Canada-European Union (EU) Summit in Montréal from October 29 to 30, 2026, aiming to forge an ambitious new partnership. The summit will build on the momentum of the New EU-Canada Strategic Partnership of the Future and the Security and Defence Partnership launched last year, focusing on leveraging complementary strengths in market power, research, manufacturing, energy, and critical minerals. Discussions will also address potential "associate membership" for Canada with the EU, though some EU countries have objections to the wording.
