NATO Allies Address Black Sea Security and Boost Ukraine's Defense Innovation
The Ministers of Defense of Bulgaria, Romania, and Turkey have condemned attacks against commercial vessels in the Black Sea, urging all parties to refrain from actions endangering maritime infrastructure and freedom of navigation. This coordinated approach by the three NATO littoral states addresses growing risks to commercial shipping from the Russia-Ukraine war. Separately, NATO's Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding to develop and test technologies together, deepening cooperation between their innovation ecosystems. The next Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting is scheduled for November 17 at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
