ECB President Christine Lagarde Announces Resignation Effective February 2027

European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde has informed the Governing Council and the President of the European Council that she will step down from her position on February 7, 2027. The European Council will now be responsible for appointing her successor following the nomination process outlined in the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
