Canada and European Union Launch 'Alliance for the Future' and Discuss Associate Membership

Canada and the European Union concluded their 21st summit in Montreal, announcing an 'Alliance for the Future' aimed at strengthening cooperation across various sectors, including trade, technology, and defense. Discussions also advanced on Canada potentially becoming the EU's first 'Associate Member,' a partnership that would deepen ties short of full accession. The initiative seeks to enhance collective sovereignty and address common issues like critical minerals, semiconductors, and AI.
